Edinburgh University Alumni

I met Jim when I was new to NZ and tutoring at Southland Polytech. It was Introductory Computing, and there wasn't a single computer in the Polytech in 1978. Jim was teaching at Cargill. He was recommended to me by a Chris Marshall who I think was teaching me biology at the time. I needed to find a company in Invercargill with a computer, where the students could compile and run their Fortran programs. Much later, we used to have a catchup each year at an EU Alumni Dinner in the Otago University Staff Club. He was brilliant at bringing along items of historic interest to enrich those meetings.
